Submitting a photography request
UMHB provides professional photography that supports our institutional Marketing and Communication goals. This can include imagery focused on noteworthy campus events, news, recruitment, advancement, and outreach.
UMHB Photography requests and services are subject to review and approval. Due to the volume of requests received, requests must be submitted a minimum of 14 days before the event to ensure proper consideration and planning. Please note that the Photography Request form is the only way to request services. Photography requests are not accepted via walk-up, telephone, or e-mail.
A Microsoft Outlook calendar appointment will be emailed to you when a photographer has been assigned. Please contact our Manager of Photography Services Hannah Van Beusekom with any questions.
*Turnaround time for university photography can vary and is estimated on a case-by-case scenario. Dependent on your event details and needs, processing time can range between two weeks or more. The Manager of Photography Services can provide you with an estimated timeline once your request is submitted.
Guidelines for capturing video/photography involving students
For intentionally planned or staged photo/video shoots involving student participants and/or volunteers (e.g. for marketing or promotional applications), our policy and practice is to get their verbal permission at the time of the shoot.
It is our practice to verbally set fair and realistic expectations with participants around the usage of the photography/videography, along these general lines:
Communicate clearly with our subjects that our photography/videography is shared with multiple areas and departments on campus and that the imagery we capture may appear in publications (print/web/social) associated with those departments.
Participation in a photo/video shoot does not guarantee that a given student will appear in any specific publication.
In the event that UMHB wishes to feature an individual student prominently (e.g. on the university homepage, a magazine cover, etc.) it will be our policy and practice to make reasonable efforts to notify those featured students before publication.
